John Driskell Hopkins Is a Founding Member of the Zac Brown Band. His Smile Rocks You as if it Were a Song.
When you hear John Driskell Hopkins and his band jam, you experience a very humble, yet world-renowned, Grammy Award winning rock star. John also just happens to be one of the founding members of the Zac Brown Band.
His foot-tapping, hand-clapping, big-smiling, autobiographical style of homegrown music fills the hearts of everyone who experiences it, whether it’s live or on record.
When John is not on the road with Zac Brown or performing other gigs with his mates, you can usually find him in his recording studio, “Brighter Shade Studios” located in Atlanta Georgia. “Brighter Shade Studios” was named after first band, with whom he still plays, and it’s also where the Zac Brown album “Home Grown” was recorded.
Brighter Shade Studios was also used in the recording of first two major albums of the Zac Brown Band; The Foundation and You Get What You Give.

If John looks familiar, that’s because he also enjoys acting and his first film, Careful What You Wish For, starring Nick Jonas, Isabel Lucas, and Paul Sorvino was released in May 2015.
The moment that our Sutter Home crew met John, we knew that his heart was as big as his smile, and that we were all kindred spirits.
Luckily for us, John and his band mates performed live at our most recent Sutter Home Day shindig. If you haven’t had a chance to watch that performance, it’s one wonderful, unplugged jam you don’t want to miss. Click to rock out: https://youtu.be/3DEwFbdCGYY
