Irish Rocker Gavin James Performs His Hit Song, “Bitter Pill”
When we found out singer-songwriter Gavin James was stopping by our Sutter Home studio to perform an acoustic version of his emotionally charged hit song, “Bitter Pill” — we couldn’t wait to share.
The first thing you notice when listening to Gavin is the way his smooth, honeyed voice connects to his lyrics. When he sings, you feel it. The rich texture, warm tones and thoughtfulness of his voice transform each song into a wonderful journey. Gavin’s vocal prowess comes from the fact that he started performing when he was 8 and never looked back. Although Gavin’s not yet 25, he clearly weaves a tale like an old Irish soul.
His first release, the EP “Say Hello,” was released in Ireland in 2012, becoming an instant Internet hit. The charting title on the album also won Song of the Year from Ireland’s Meteor Choice Music Prize. Then in 2014, Gavin’s star started shining even brighter; he was signed to Capitol Records and released a full-length live album, “Live at Whelans,” which he played solo on in a bare-bones performance space in his hometown of Ireland. The sold-out show blew the crowd away.
In the spring of 2015, he started getting major U.S. exposure by appearing on U.S. television’s “Dancing with the Stars” and releasing his four-track EP, “For You.” Later that year he was invited to open for chart-toppers Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith on their respective tours. His current release, the single “Bitter Pill” from his full-length studio debut album of the same name, is dropping in 2016. Gavin’s great vocal range, lyrical storytelling and memorable melodies are in perfect harmony with the wonderful tasting notes of Sutter Home Wines.
