Sutter Home Family Vineyards Announces 2012 Capsules for Hope® Program

Sutter Home Family Vineyards Announces 2012 Capsules for Hope® Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. Helena, CA June 7, 2012 – Sutter Home Family Vineyards today announced the 2012 Capsules for Hope® program as part of its ongoing Sutter Home for Hope initiative. One of the first wine companies to make a commitment to breast cancer awareness, Sutter Home for Hope was launched in 2001, after one of the company’s owners, Vera Trinchero Torres, was diagnosed with the disease. Still an owner of the family-run business, Vera is proud to be a breast cancer survivor and is dedicated to the cause. In the past 11 years, Sutter Home has remained committed, donating more than $800,000 towards the fight against breast cancer.

Capsules for Hope® will launch in August 2012 and continue through December 31, 2012. For every top quality seal from any Sutter Home bottle of wine that Sutter Home receives from consumers, the company will donate $1 to City of Hope, up to $100,000. City of Hope is a leading research, treatment and education center for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Consumers who purchase Sutter Home varietals packaged in a screw-cap closure may send in the receipt as a substitute for the capsule seal. Postage-paid envelopes will be available on display at retail.

“At Sutter Home, this is a company-wide commitment. We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, and each one of us is personally and professionally committed to helping find a cure,” said Wendy Nyberg, Senior Marketing Director for Sutter Home. “$800,000 has gone a long way towards research and education, but we know we can do more. Our goal is to reach the $1 million mark through programs like Capsules for Hope®. And we won’t stop there.”

Each year, thousands of people across the country have supported Sutter Home for Hope – by participating in programs like Capsules for Hope® and events like Walk for Hope; sharing their personal stories and photos on the Sutter Home for Hope website; or simply wearing pink Sutter Home for Hope jerseys and ribbons to continue raising awareness. This year, the Sutter Home Facebook page will have innovative and interactive ways to engage consumers, including a Facebook Sutter Home for Hope sweepstakes program. The sweepstakes will launch on October 1, 2012 encouraging Facebook users to “like” Sutter Home and win limited Sutter Home for Hope jerseys*.

From October 1 through December 31, 2012, fans can also post photos to honor survivors, or in memory of loved ones who have lost their battle with breast cancer.** For each photo uploaded Sutter Home will donate a $1 to City of Hope, towards the $100,000 Capsules for Hope® program goal. Sutter Home will collect the photos and create a board of honor on Pinterest in addition to featuring them in the Sutter Home blog. “By expanding this program to include the social media element, and additional touches such as providing free postage, our goal is to make this as easy as possible for our customers,” Ms. Nyberg added. “This initiative is one of the things that I love about working for Sutter Home. If we can raise awareness about early detection – we can literally help save lives.” For more information visit: www.sutterhomeforhope.com.
