Sean Magee’s Firehouse Chili

One of my favorite characters in Proof of Heaven is Sean—a firefighter, who is the life of the party. Inspired  by his character, I served Firehouse Chili at my book club party for Proof of Heaven. (I also did it because it was inexpensive and easy. In fact, I threw the ingredients in my Crock Pot before I left for work). When I came home I put out  bowls, spoons, wine glasses, and some bottles wine. ( I also made pitchers of lemonade and water for nondrinkers). I served the chili with small bowls of sour cream, shredded cheese, and chopped onions and put out baskets of gourmet pita chips (in case people wanted to use the chili as a dip, rather than a meal).

(Be sure to put a large serving spoon on dish and let your guests serve themselves directly from the Crock Pot.)
