Creamy White Wine Chicken: A Simple Family Meal
In today’s busy world, it’s hard to find a free moment between work, school, activities, and life to fit in both family time and nutritious, home-cooked meals. This creamy chicken recipe manages to squeeze in a little of both, with hearty, wholesome ingredients and only 10 minutes of prep time. The creamy white-wine sauce made with Sutter Home Chardonnay (or any Sutter Home dry white of your choosing) is a perfect match to juicy, savory chicken breasts. For the adults at the dinner table, serve with a glass of your already-open wine for the perfect pairing.
Gather up your spouse or your kids (or both) for the prep work and follow this quick-and-easy recipe that yields four melt-in-your-mouth servings.
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1.5 cups white mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup Sutter Home Chardonnay
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1.5 cups half and half
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Parsley for garnish
Add butter to a large skillet and melt over medium-high heat. Season chicken on both sides with salt and pepper. Place chicken in skillet and cook on both sides until cooked through and browned. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
Add onion and garlic to skillet and cook until onion is translucent and soft. Add sliced mushrooms and stir. Season mushrooms with salt and pepper. Let cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. When mushrooms are tender, add wine and cook off the wine for a few more minutes. Add half and half, stir and cook for 5 minutes, or until sauce reduces a bit and thickens.
Add chicken to the skillet to warm up. Garnish with parsley and serve.
