The Perfect Thanksgiving Potluck

| Posted by Heather for Sutter Home

This Thanksgiving we’re thinking about simplicity – and that doesn’t mean sacrificing flavor or tradition. This year invite everyone over for a Thanksgiving potluck!

Thanksgiving is all about bringing people together to enjoy delicious food, great wine and the best company – so this year let’s do just that. Have some fun with it: invite your guests to bring over a dish and Sutter Home mini bottles to pair with their food. Everyone can sample what food goes best with which wine. It’s a recipe for a perfect Thanksgiving!

Below we’ve put together a few suggestions of awesome recipes and wines to pair them with. Find recipe links to all of these drool-worthy dishes on our Pinterest board “Giving Thanks.”

And if you don’t know what to cook, just bring wine!

Appetizers:

Start off your meal with a crisp white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio to keep the flavor light before a big meal.

Brie & Apple Cranberry Crostini

Hot Spinach Dip

Side Dishes:

Sides make almost as big of a splash at Thanksgiving dinner as the main course. It’s best to serve a wine that will go great with all the flavors. Have your guests bring some Pinot Noir or Zinfandel.

Au Gratin Potatoes

Glazed Butternut Squash

Cranberry Sauce

Green Beans with Bacon

Garlic Crescent Rolls

Turkey/Main Dish:

The big finale should always have the boldest flavor. Sutter Home’s Merlot will make sure to tie all the flavors of the meal together in the end.

Roasted Rosemary Turkey

Herb & Garlic Leg of Lamb

Dessert:

Don’t forget to save room for pie! After you’ve loosened a few notches in your belt and you’re ready for dessert, serve up slices of pie with Sutter Home Riesling, Moscato or Chardonnay. Check out our pie pairings blog post to put cherry on top of the perfect Thanksgiving!
