Jazz Up Your Dinner Party
While I know how fun potluck dinners are, it can be nice to play host sometimes. With the holidays well on their way, now’s the perfect time to give your friends a reason to dress up at your next dinner party. The best way to transform from casual to classy is by creating a few different courses, and pairing different wines with each one.
To ensure that your formal dinner party will be a success, here are some ideas. Of course, these are just suggestions, so feel free to pick and choose what suits you best:
-For a memorable starting point, kick off your evening with this great recipe for sparkling wine and a variety of cheeses. (Or, if you’re watching your calories, try combining Sutter Home Pinot Grigio with some club soda and a slice of lemon to make a wine spritzer...it’s just as delicious, trust me!)
-Next up, main course: pork tenderloin. To balance out the flavor, try this with a darker wine, like the Merlot so that the umami taste isn’t affected by the wine. A Zinfandel would do just perfectly, also.
-And, of course, we save the best for last. For a quick yet delicious dessert, just pick up an assortment of sorbet. Sorbets with strawberry, peach, apple, or pear flavors are just the fruity goodness you need to compliment a glass of Sutter Home Moscato. Put these in a nice, decorative bowl or a margarita glass and you’re good to go.
It’s almost the holidays, which means it’s time to pull out your nice china and put on your best duds. You’ll be the talk of all of your friends as the host with the most.
Tell us about a time that you attended a classy dinner party. Do you remember what the food tasted like? The outfits your friends were wearing? The wine you drank?
