1 pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
¼ pound butter
1 ¾ cups plain flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground red pepper
Cream butter and cheese with salt and pepper. Add sifted flour. Roll into 1”-wide cigars. Slice the cigars into little rounds, and place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until light brown. Remove from baking sheets before they are cold. Sprinkle lightly with cayenne pepper. Makes about 100. May be stored in tightly covered container.

When Lisa, Carrie and Suzanne invite their friends to dinner in All the Single Ladies, they skip the more formal setting of the dining room or living room and serve their meal right there in the kitchen. As Lisa says, “Whatever the reason, we always seemed to gravitate to the kitchen. If I ever built a house it was going to be one giant kitchen, with maybe a few bedrooms and bathrooms off the sides.”
