Wine Varietal: Chardonnay
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday during the year.I love the smells and tastes created that day as family sits around the table to share a meal together. I wanted to craft a burger that would recreate those flavors blended together to enjoy on any day.
Sauted Onion and Celery
2 tablespoons butter
One half cup chopped onion
One half cup chopped celery
One half teaspoon poultry seasoning
One half teaspoon sea salt
One quarter teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1 and one half pounds ground turkey
One third cup chopped fresh parsley
One half cup chicken flavored Stove Top stuffing mix in the canister
9 teaspoons Tomato Jam
One half cup French’s French Fried Onions
6 teaspoons Mayonnaise
6 romaine lettuce leaves shredded
Vegetable oil for brushing the grill rack
6 good quality potato burger buns split
Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high heat.
To make the sauted onion and celery, melt the butter in a 10 inch nonstick skillet. Add the onion, celery, poultry seasoning, sea salt and pepper. Sauté until crisp tender.
To make the patties, combine the ground turkey, sauted onion and celery mix, fresh parsley and stuffing in a large bowl. Handling the meat as little as possible to avoid over mixing, gently mix the ingredients. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form into patties to fit the buns.
When the grill is ready, brush the patties with vegetable oil and place on the grill. Turning only once, cook the patties until done to preference 5-7 minutes per side. When the patties are finished, place the rolls cut side down and lightly grill to toast. Remove patties and let rest.
To assemble burgers, spread about a teaspoon of mayonnaise on cut side of the top bun. Place the burger on the bottom half of the bun. Top the burger with 1 and one half teaspoons of Tomato Jam, French’s Fried Onions to taste and shredded romaine lettuce to taste. Add the top of the bun and serve!
