Zesty Veggie Burgers

These are a fun and creative way to get those veggies into your family. I loved them as a child visiting my family. They are easy. Your choice of veggies will be whatever your family loves. Enjoy!!

Ingredients 

2 lbs 93/7 lean ground beef
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
2 Ts black pepper
2 Ts garlic powder
2 Ts red cayenne
2 Ts salt
1/2 avocado per burger
Olive oil or butter as desired to smear on buns to grill.
Veggies of choice: chopped (ie green onions, red onions, jalapenos, bell peppers, celery); unchopped (kernel corn, peas)

Instructions 

 Mix together all first ingredients through salt. Keep avocado until the end for top of burger. Combine veggies (set aside) Make patties about 1/4" thick. Scoop out some veggies, place on burger. Take another patty, place on top then pinch together edges to make secure. Wrap each in heavy duty aluminum. Place on hot grill to cook for about 30 minutes to 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes. When done as desired, put some olive oil on buns (or butter), grill for about a minute, then top with sliced avocado and whatever other condiments you wish.

Comments 

These are fun to make as a family project. You may prepare ahead of time. Sitting overnight before grilling lets the yummies sink into the meat. It's delish!!
