Wilderness Burger

OK. OK. In all honesty I wouldn't eat this if you paid me to! But my deer-hunting boyfriend says this is the best way to prepare wild game. I wanted to call this the "Bambi Burger" but he insists we give it a fair shake!


1 1/2 lb. ground venison
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 minced garlic clove
3 tbs. Sutter Home Merlot
1 tsp. hot sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Chedder cheese slices


Combine venison, ground beef, garlic, Merlot, hot sauce and salt and pepper. Grill on medium heat to desired wellness, rare, medium or well done. Add cheese and cook for another minute. Serve on a toasted sesame seed bun with mayonnaise, onion slices, tomato and leafy lettuce.


Pour the rest of the Merlot into a tall glass and wash burgers down with it. Eating deer - yuck!
