The Spicy Bird

Pairs well with:

Moscato

Paired or alone, there's something magical about this creamy wine that nods to yummy peaches and sinful delights.

Burgers are a favorite menu item in our house. In an attemp to add variety I started making turkey burgers. I started by seasoning them in the same manner that I would a beef burger. While the turkey burgers were flavorful, they were obviously turkey burgers. My search for a spice mixture that would create a turkey burger that emulated a beef burger that led me to this recipe.

Ingredients:

Burger Ingredients:
½ cup Kroger KC Style Hickory Smoke Bar-B-Que Sauce
1 Tablespoon Seasoned Salt
1Tablespoon. Ground Red Pepper
1 Tablespoon Ground Cumin Seed
1Tablespoon. Chili Powder
1 Tablespoon Thyme
1 Tablespoon Marjoram
1 Tablespoon Rosemary
10 Cloves Garlic, finely chopped
2 Pounds Ground Turkey
6 Slices Mozzarella Cheese
6 Tellara Rolls

Relish Ingredients:
1 Avacado, diced
3 Roma Tomatoes, diced
1 Tablespoon Rice Wine Vinegar
¼ Teaspoon Salt
¼ Teaspoon Pepper

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl combine bar-b-que sauce, seasoned salt, red pepper, cumin, chili powder, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, garlic and ground turkey. Separate mixture into 6 equal patties. Cook burgers on hot grill, medium high heat, flipping once, until internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit for well done, approximately 12 minutes. Melt cheese on burgers, cover and set aside.

In a small mixing bowl combine relish ingredients. Slice rolls in half and place cut side down on grill surface to toast, approximately 1 minute. To assemble, place 1 burger on each bun bottom, top with relish, then with bun top.
