The Onion Cheeseburger

We love cheeseburgers. And I think that onions and green peppers taste great together so, I thought why not mince and mix them into the ground chuck?, add some lime juice for taste and tomato paste for a little kick without the mess. I was trying to create a whole meal into one little cheeseburger. My family and I were pleasantly surprised that not only was it a complete meal but it also tasted really good!

Ingredients

2 Lbs. Ground Chuck or Hamburger
2 Tbls. Lime Juice
2 Tbls. Green Pepper, minced
2 Tbls. Onion, minced
2 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Onion Powder
½ tsp Cayenne Pepper
6 Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese slices
Dash of Kosher Salt ½ tsp.
Oil, for the grill
1 tsp. Yellow Mustard
1 tsp. Real Mayonnaise
6 Kaiser Rolls, sliced in half
1 Tbls. Butter, softened
6 Pepper jack cheese slices
6 Romaine Lettuce Leaves
½ c. Tomato Paste

Instructions

The Hamburger Patties Place the ground chuck in large mixing bowl and set aside. Add the lime juice, minced green pepper and onion with the ground chuck. Add garlic and onion powder, and cayenne pepper to the ground chuck. Combine all of the ingredients by tossing lightly with hands until thoroughly mixed. Shaping the Burger Divide hamburger mixture in half. Make four thin hamburger patties from each half, put them on separate plates. Place one slice of the cheddar cheese on four of the patties. Make a sandwich of the cheddar cheese by putting the patties together one on top of the other. Seal the sides of the hamburgers patties so the cheese cannot be seen. Put a dash of kosher salt on top of burgers. Cooking the Burger Lightly oil the grill. Fry the burgers on med flame for five minutes per side and flipping only once to seal in juiciness (internal temperature should reach 160 degrees). The Bun While burgers are frying, combine the mustard, mayonnaise in a small bowl, set aside. Brush butter onto the tops of the Kaiser rolls. Toast the rolls on the grill until lightly browned. When burgers are done place the pepper jack cheese slices onto the burgers to melt. Cut the burgers into perfect roundness by using a coffee cup and pressing it into the burgers. The Toppings and Finishing the Burger Spread the mustard/mayonnaise mixture on the bottom part of the toasted Kaiser roll, a romaine lettuce leaf followed by one of the burgers and a spread of a little tomato paste on the burger, top with a toasted Kaiser Roll top.
