The Divine “Mmmm” Burger

Ingredients

Mascarpone Cheese Topping:
¾ lb Country Italian Sausage
½ lb Ground Beef
1 medium sized Red Onion chopped
2-3 cloves Garlic minced
1 lb Mushrooms sliced into pieces
12oz Mascarpone or Cream Cheese
Patties:
2 lbs Ground Beef
¼ lbs Country Italian Sausage
3 cloves Fresh Minced Garlic
¼ cup Red Onion minced
2 ½ tsp Sea Salt
¼ tsp all spice
¼ cup Milk
1 Egg
¾ cup Parmesan Riggano
3 tsp dried basil and oregano combo
½-1 tsp freshly ground Pepper
Vegetable oil, for brushing on the grill rack
6 Ciabatta Sandwich Rolls split
Melted Butter
6 slices of Mozzarella Cheese
6 Romaine Lettuce leaves broken
6 Slices Tomato Italian Marinara Sauce
½ cup Parmesan Riggano

 

Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. For the Topping: Into a large skillet add the Italian sausage and Ground Beef, cook on medium- high heat be careful to crumble the meat while cooking. Once thoroughly cooked put meat in large bowl, & be sure to leave the excess fat in pan. Next add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.Combine garlic in pan & sauté about 3 minutes. Add the mushrooms; continue sautéing for and additional 4-5 minutes. Drain out the excess fat and put in the bowl with the meat. Allow mixture to cool slightly. When the meat is cooled enough to handle, add the mascarpone or cream cheese. Mix well, and set aside covered. For Burger Patties: In a large bowl add the ground beef and sausage sprinkle in the sea salt, pepper and White Wine. Next add in the remaining ingredients: garlic, Onion, salt, all spice, milk, egg and Parmesan; then finish adding the oregano& basil & pepper. Mix the meat with hands. Form mixture into six patties. Set aside covered to cook on the grill. On the prepared grill brush with vegetable oil to reduce sticking. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook to a medium rare or to pink inside about 3 to 5 minutes a side. Top with a slice of Mozzarella and slightly melt about 1 minute. Once finished with the patties set aside to allow the meat to rest for a few minuets. While the meat is resting brush the rolls with butter and toast lightly on the grill 1 to 2 minutes. Once you have completed the rolls, add the lettuce, tomato and then the meat patty. Top with a large scoop of topping, dress it then with a heaping spoon full of Marinara sauce and dust with parmesan cheese. Complete with the bun top and serve.
