RECIPES: Recipe Details
We really like the savory tastes of turkey and stuffing, so I expreimented with putting all of this in a burger. It was a hit!
1 cup Herb Stuffing, crushed
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped Granny Smith apple
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup Chardonnay
1 lb. ground, lean turkey (NOT breast meat only)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
6 top-quality whole grain buns
Mix stuffing, onion, apple, celery, cherries, parsley, sage, salt, and wine in a large bowl. Mix in turkey with your hands just until combined. Using a heaping 1/2 cupful of turkey, shape into patties. I use a Kenmore grill, which I have preheated on high. Cook on MEDIUM for about 6 minutes per side, until cooked through. Combine maple syrup and walnuts. Brush over the top of each cooked burger on the grill. Serve on whole-grain buns which have been toasted.
This really is a wonderful burger. I would also vary it by serving it with a slice of good cheddar cheese or putting it in a homemade herb roll.
