Texas Firehouse Burger

I came up with this recipe at the fire station one day - we quickly determined it was a keeper. The mix of ingredients really give it a punch of flavor without being too spicy. The mayo mixture is really awesome too!!

2-1/4 lbs 93% or leaner ground beef
3/4 lbs chorizo sausage (casing removed)
1 cup finely diced sweet onion
1/2 cup finely chopped seeded jalapeno
3/4 cup minced cilantro
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp coarse salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 cup mayonaise
1 Tbsp ground cumin
1 Tbsp chili powder
Juice of one small lime
6 slices pepper jack cheese 2 avocados sliced
olive oil for greasing grill grates
6 hamburger buns

Begin heating the grill. Combine ground beef, chorizo, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well and form into 6 patties. In a seperate bowl, mix together mayonaise, cumin, chili powder and lime juice. Cover and chill. Clean and oil grill grate. Place patties on medium/high heat for about 6-8 minutes per side. When patties reach desired degree of doneness, top with pepper jack cheese. Place buns on grill to toast. Assemble burgers. Spread mayo mixture generously on bun, place patty then top with avocado slices. Serve and enjoy!!
