T-Bone's Southwestern Turkey Burger

This is a recipe I came up with after giving up red meat, and getting sick of your plain old dry Turkey Burger. It's a bit spicy, so it's not for those who like a bland burger!


1.25 pound package of ground turkey
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp each of salt and peppe
r 1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup jalepeno rings (chopped fine)
2 cloves of garlic (chopped fine)
1/3 cup black beans (drained)
1/3 cup corn kernals (canned)
2 (heaping) tbsp of salsa
6 slices chedder or pepperjack cheese
6 kaiser rolls or large flour tortillas


In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, chili powder, salt, pepper, chopped onion, jalepeno rings (make sure these are chopped fine, you may want to use a food processor), and chopped garlic together. Add the black beans, corn, and salsa. Continue to mix ingredients together. Form mixture into 6 medium-sized patties. Grill about 5-7 minutes on each side, or to your liking. Top with cheese and serve on a roll. For a low-carb alternative, wrap the burger in a large flour tortilla and serve.


This burger is so tasty, you don't need to top it with a condiment! Of course, a little guacamole and a dallop of sour cream doesn't hurt. This burger would be perfect with some sangria!
