Sweet and Spicy Pea Burger

Zinfandel

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.

Ingredients

Burger
2 pounds ground beef
.5 large white onion minced
2 clove minced garlic
2 tablespoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon freshly packed ground pepper
.5 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
Sauce
1 12 ounce package thawed, previoulsy frozen, sweet peas
2 tablespoon of curry powder
1 tablespoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1.5 teaspoon brown sugar
.75 cup tomato sauce
.5 cup beef broth
 .5 cup heavy cream
.5 tablespoon of salt
.5 tablespoon of freshly cracked pepper
12 small wheat pitas
About a half a cup of olive oil to grease grill and for pita
2 cloves of garlic

 

Instructions

Chop onions, garlic and carrots.Mix burger ingredients together. Shape into 6 patties. Mix sauce ingredients. Put in a small saucepan over a low flame on the grill. Cook for 20 minutes over a low simmer. Put burgers on the grill. Cook to desired level of doneness. About 10 minutes on each side. Remove from grill. Lightly brush pitas with olive oil. Grill on both sides until lightly toasted. Place each burger on a Pita and cover with three heaping tablespoons of sauce.
