Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup noodles from a 3-oz. pkg. beef flavored ramen noodles, crushed, plus beef seasoning packet
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
vegetable oil for brushing the grill rack
1 (3-oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 (12-oz.) jar homestyle gravy
1/2 cup sour cream
6 kaiser rolls, split
6 lettuce leaves
6 thin-sliced, red onion slices

Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat gas grill to medium-high. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, crushed noodles, seasoning packet, egg and salt and pepper; mix well. Let sit for 10 minutes so noodles will be softened. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine mushrooms, gravy and sour cream; set aside. To make the patties, divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form portions into patties to fit the rolls. Brush the grill rack with oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover and grill until browned on the bottoms, 3 to 4 minutes. Turn the patties and continue grilling until done to preference, about 5 minutes longer for medium. During the last few minutes of cooking, place the rolls, cut side down, on the outer edges of the rack to toast lightly. To assemble burgers, place a generous amount of mushroom sauce over the cut sides of the rolls. On each roll bottom, place a lettuce leaf, a red onion slice and a patty. Add the roll tops and serve.
