Southern Bistro Burgers

South Carolina is the largest peach growing state in America. My family experiments with peaches all of the time and found out that peaches add just the right flavor and really bring out the best in beef.


6 tablespoons peach preserves
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 cup green tomato, chopped
2 cups fresh or frozen peaches, peeled and chopped
1/3 cup Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 lbs ground sirloin
1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
6 large seeded hamburger buns
6 medium green leaf lettuce leaves


In a small bowl, combine peach preserves and horseradish, cover, and refrigerate. In a separate bowl, combine green tomato, peaches, olive oil, and vinegar. Cover and refrigerate. Preheat gas grill to medium-high heat.
In a large bowl, combine sirloin, salt, and pepper. Divide into 1/3 lb burgers. Grill burgers for 7 total minutes on each side, turning as needed. Set aside. Spread 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of the peachy horseradish mixture on each side of each bun. Place on the grill for 30-45 seconds. Remove from grill. Put green leaf lettuce on bottom of each bun. Insert a burger into each bun. Top each with the peach salsa. Serve immediately.


Like a Southern bistro, this burger provides great taste and Southern comfort. Perfectly satisfying.
