Shrimp Tempura Burger

Shrimp Tempura Buger blends two specific tastes together giving the burger a distincly Asian flare.


1 Cup all purpose Flour
1-1 1/8 Cup chilled Seltzer
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 pounds ground Sirloin
3 Tablespoons Wasabi
6 Cups Sesame oil (Reserve 2T to cook Shrimp)
12 cleaned, shelled, uncooked shrimp
1 1/2 Cup finely chopped
Red Cabbage
Garlic Sesame Marinade
4 fresh Kaiser Rolls
Paper Towels


1) Make tempura batter (wisk flour and salt. Slowly pour in seltzer. wisk until smooth). Set aside 2) Mix 3T wasabi in with 2 lbs ground Sirloin 3) Form beef mixture into 4 patties 4) Grill patties to RARE 5) While patties are grilling, heat Sesame oil in deep pan 6) Remove patties from grill 7) Dip patties into tempura batter 8) Using tongs, drop battered patties into VERY hot Sesame oil 9) Let patties cook in Sesame oil for 6 minutes (or until batter is golden). Burgers will be cooked to Medium-Rare 10) While patties are cooking in oil, heat 2T Sesame oil in skillet and cook shrimp for 2 minutes 11) Remove patties from oil and rest on paper towel 12) Put patties on bottom of Kaiser Rolls 13) Top each burger with 3 cooked shrimp 14) Top that with finely chopped Red Cabbage (approximately 3T or to taste) 15) Drizzle burger with Garlic Sesame marinade (approximately 2T or to taste) 16) Top with top of Kaiser Roll 17) Serve


Sesame oil should be very hot before battered patties are put in Tongs must be used to avoid injury Do not overcook shrimp or they will be tough
