Secret Surprise Burger

This recipe was formulated to get more vegetables into my children (especially the ones they say they don't like). It is moist and delicious.


1- 16 ounce bag of frozen broccoli/cauliflower/carrot vegetable mix, thawed
2 pounds of ground chuck
3/4 cup of quick-cooking oatmeal
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1 large egg
1- 28 ounce bottle of Original Barbecue Sauce
6 Kaiser buns
lettuce leaves
tomato slices


1. Slightly pat veggies of excess water. Place in food processor and puree; then add oatmeal, the egg, and the cheese. Puree until blended. 2. Mix in bowl (with hands) with the ground chuck until thoroughly incorporated. 3. Grill on medium-high heat 5 minutes. Turn over; pour BBQ sauce on top and grill another 5 minutes. 4. Place on bun with lettuce and tomato slices.


This has such a great flavor. My whole family was amazed. It is one of our favorite ways of eating this. I also like making this into a meatloaf. One would never know what was inside.
