Ingredients

Non-stick cooking spray (for use on gas grill).
2 Pounds Ground Beef Chuck- "Beef" "It's What's for Dinner!"
4 Rod Pretzels- crushed finely
1 1/2 Tablespoons Ground Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 Cup Grey Poupon Mustard
1 Cup Sutter Homes' Cabernet Sauvignon
3 Large Sweet Vidalia Onions
1 Cup Colivita Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Stick of Butter
1/4 Cup Sugar
4 Ripe California Avocados
1/3 Cup Mayonnaise
1 Lemon
6 Slices Muenster Cheese
1 Loaf Sour-Dough Bread - (12 slices)
6 Kettle Potato Chips (lighly salted )- crushed

Instructions

Combine the first 6 ingredients in large bowl and gently mix. Seal with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. Divide into 6 equal portions and shape into patties. Seal with plastic wrap and return to the refrigerator until you are ready to cook. Preheat gas grill on low heat to prepare the caramelized onions. In a large skillet melt the butter, and add about 1/2 Cup of the EVOO, (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) Blend the sugar into this mixture. Slice the 3 Onions and separate into rings. These will cook on low heat until they develop a light brown in color appearance or until they are "caramelized". Usually around 30 minutes or so. Cover and set aside. Turn grill off. About an hour before cooking the burgers you can begin making the Avocado spread. Place peeled avocados in a medium bowl. Add the juice of 1 Lemon and the mayonnaise. Using a fork, crush and blend mixture to complete your spread. Cover with plastic wrap and return to the refrigerator. To cook your burgers. Preheat your gas grill. When you reach a temperature of 350 degrees, (medium-high heat) you are ready to begin grilling your burgers. Spray the grill racks with your non-stick cooking spray. For "rare" burgers, cook the first side for 4 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 5 minutes. For "medium" burgers, about 6 1/2 minutes on the first side and then flip and remain cooking for 7 minutes. The cheese can be added at about the last minute or so of cooking the burgers or you can wait until you remove the burgers from the grill and place cheese while on the platter. On the top rack of your grill about half way through cooking your burgers you will want to lightly toast your sliced sour-dough bread. Lighlty baste each slice with the remaining EVOO, and grill. Remove and cover with foil. To assemble your "Savory Burgers" Place a burger with cheese on one slice of the grilled sour-dough bread. Place a mound of caramelized onions on top and sprinkle a few crushed Kettle chips. Spread a generous portion of the "Avocado spread" on the other slice of bread and place on top of burger. You may either leave whole or cut in half for easier handling. Enjoy this delicious burger!
