popeye's protein

About 2 years ago I committed to a life style change. My being someone who despises diets and the trends that circle around them began my own thing. Some may say I dieted but I know that the changes I made and the 35 pound I lost were possible from creating substitute classics with natural foods. This burger satisfied a craving I had during last fourth of July's cook out marathon weekend. I was able to stick to my guns and also created a favorite dish not only by me but my friends!!

Ingredients 

2 pounds ground all white lean turkey
1+ tbls extra virgin olive oil
1 large shallot
2 gloves of garlic
1 package of frozen spinach
2 oz of feta cheese crumbled
1 tbls steak seasoning
less than a tsp of nutmeg
arugula
red onion
portabello mushroom cap
salt
pepper
1 slice of whole wheat all natural bread

Instructions 

Place meat in bowl sautee garlic and shallot in 1 tbls of extra virgin olive oil let cool then add to meat Defroast 1 package of frozen spinach (while sauteeing garlic and shallot), ring out excess liquid and add to meat. Add crumbled feta, steak seasoning, nutmeg to meat and mix to combine. Make a patty of equal size to portabello mushroom cap. Begin grilling drizzle extra virgin olive oil on mush cap and place in oven on 350 for 5 minutes. Place bread on plate and top with cooked burger patty. Then top patty with red onion, arugula, salt, and pepper. Place cooked mushroom on top burger. Eat and Enjoy!

This is a very healthy alternative to a typical ground beef burger. Health does not have to sacrifice taste. The more well rounded ingredients you add to a dish the more tasty and the further it stretches. I hope you consider my receipt for this contest. You never know, you may turn someone onto a healthier way of life.
