Picadillo Burgers

Pairs well with:

Pinot Grigio

You won’t need a bouquet of flowers when you share our Pinot Grigio. This crisp wine with floral aromas is a wonderful way to make an entrance.

Pinch of Saffron
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tsp Onion Powder
2-3 Tablspoons of Sofrito-see below
Special Sauce-see below
Thick Slices of Red or Vidalia Onions
Cheese, optional. I use Mexican Melting Cheese.
Sofrito-
Place in food processor,
fire roasted red pepper,
half a white onion,
2 cloves of garlic,
three or four capers,
pinch of salt and pepper
and tablespoon of tomato paste.
Special Sauce-
In a small bowl, combine
1/2 cup of mayo,
a pinch of saffron,
salt/pepper to taste,
a teaspoon of sofrito.

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine first five ingredients. Form patties and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes for flavors to mix. Meanwhile make special sauce and set aside in refrigerator. Just before grilling, brush patties with olive oil and salt/pepper tp taste. Grill till desired doneness. When almost done, place cheese on top to melt. Remove from grill. Brush Olive oil and salt/pepper on onion slices and grill alongside burgers. Assemble burgers with onions on top in buns of your choice and special sauce and serve. ( I use cuban bread buns)
