Pennsylvania-Dutch “Style” Apple-Pork Burgers

Ingredients

6 Tbsp. apple butter
4 tsp. prepared horseradish
4 tsp. Grey Poupon Spicy Brown Mustard
1/8 tsp. ground chipotle pepper
2 lbs. lean ground pork
Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil- for brushing on grill and buns
6 slices sharp cheddar cheese-about 1/4 lb.
6 good quality hamburger buns, split
6 crisp-curly lettuce leaves
6 red spiced apple rings

 

Instructions

Preheat gas grill for medium-high heat according to manufacturer's directions. In medium bowl, stir together apple butter, horseradish, mustard, salt and chipotle pepper; add ground pork and mix gently but thoroughly. Divide into six portions and shape each into a burger to fit the size of the buns. Refrigerate/chill until needed. When grill is ready, lightly brush surface with oil. Place burger on grill and grill about 6 minutes per side or until done to your liking. About 2 minutes before burgers are done; place a cheese slice atop each. Also, brush cut surface of buns lightly with oil and place on grill. At the side, to toast/warm. To serve: Place lettuce leaf on top of bottom layer of bun; top with burger (cheese side up); then apple ring; top of bun. Makes 6
