This burger has all of my favorite burger toppings on the inside. it's less messy to eat and tastes just as good.


2 lbs. ground chuck
1/2 c. sweet pickle relish
2 T. dijon mustard
1 T. ketchup
2 t. salt
1 t. ground black pepper
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
Oil for grill
6 slices of sharp cheddar
6 soft kaiser rolls


Mix first seven ingredients together in large bowl. Form into six patties. Oil grill to prevent burgers from sticking. Cook over coals, turning once, until the inside temperature reaches 160 degrees F. When patties are just about at temperature top each with a slice of cheese, cover grill and let cheese melt. When cheese is melted, remove from grill, place on kaiser rolls and serve immediately.


These burgers are moist and juicy. They have a sweetness from the pickle relish and a tanginess from the ketchup. I think it goes well with the sharpness of the cheddar cheese and a cold draft beer!
