BBQ Sauce
1/2 cup original barbeque sauce
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 tablespoon corn syrup
Patties
1 1/4 lbs ground sirloin
2 tablespoons original barbeque sauce
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon all purpose seasoning
1 small potato (not peeled)(hand grated)
6 slices American Cheese
Vegetable oil – for the grill rack
6 Onion Buns

Instructions

Preheat an outdoor gas grill with cover to between medium and medium-high. To make the BBQ sauce, combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well using a traditional kitchen spoon. Leave spoon in bowl, you will use it a little later. To make the patties, in a large bowl combine the ground sirloin, barbeque sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, egg, seasoning and grated potato, (make sure potato is not finely grated). Mix well using your hands. Divide into six equal portions and form into patties. Using your index finger, place a hole in the middle of each patty to help eliminate shrinkage while cooking. Brush grill rack with vegetable oil when grill is hot. Place patties on the rack. Using the spoon left in the BBQ sauce bowl, spread a spoonful of sauce over each patty. Cover and cook approx. 8-9 minutes. Flip patties and spread a spoonful of sauce over each patty like before. Cover and continue cooking another 7-8 minutes. Make sure patties are cooked throughly. Add a slice of American Cheese to each patty, cover and cook until cheese is melted, approx. 1-2 minutes. Remove patties from grill and place on a large platter. Place open onion buns on grill until lightly toasted. Place one burger on each onion bun and garnish with your favorite hamburger toppings.
