Not My Mama's Burger

We always ate plain hamburgers at home. The only variation was cheese. When I started cooking I loved experiementing with all foods, including burgers. Following is one my experiments. I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients

2 lbs. ground round
2 garlic cloves, pressed
1/8 tsp. pepper
6 Tbs. Sutter Home Merlot
2 tsp. Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard
1 Tbs. Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil
½ yellow onion finely chopped
1 cup Pretzel Snaps , reduced to crumbs
1 egg, beaten
6 slices Swiss cheese
Vegetable oil for brushing grill rack
6 Kaiser Rolls, split
1 large avocado
6 romaine lettuce leafs

Instructions

Directions: In a bowl place the ground round, garlic, pepper, Merlot, mustard , olive oil and onion. Blend well, but do not over-handle. Make 6 patties. Dip patties into beaten egg and then into the pretzels. Place patties on preheated (medium heat) grill which has been brushed with vegetable oil to prevent sticking. First side for 5 minutes in closed grill. Turn. Grill second side for 3 minutes with grill closed. Put cheese on top, close grill and continue grilling for 2 minutes. Lightly spread Grey Poupon Dijon mustard on warmed bun, place burgers on bun, top with 2 avocado slices, then lettuce leaf.
