Millette’s Maineiac Mango Burger

Pairs well with:

White Zinfandel

With strawberry and melon essences, this American original is perfectly at home with however you like to unwind.

Ingredients

Lime slaw:
1/2 head of shredded iceburg lettuce
1 lime 1 tsp of cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Mango Sauce:
1 mango diced
1 tomato diced
1/4 red onion diced
1 lime
1 orange 2
tbs fresh cilantro
6 bananna pepper rings
1/2 tsp sal
t 1/2 tsp pepper
Meat Patties:
2 lb of ground chuck
2 tbl cajun spice
2 tbl hot sauce
2 tbl worcestershire sauce
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
vegetable oil for grill rack
6 kaiser rolls split
1 stick of butter to spread on rolls

 

Instructions

Lime slaw: In bowl, put shredded lettuce. Squeeze juice from lime. Add cumin, salt, and pepper mix and refrigorate until ready to use. Mango Sauce: Peel and dice mango into 1/4 inch. Put half of the mango in a food processor with the juice from the lime, the juice from the orange, the pepper rings, cilantro, and salt and pepper. Put into bowl and fold in other half of mango, tomato, and onion. Prepare a medium hot fire or pre heat a gas grill to medium high. Meat Patties: Combine the beef, cajun spice, hot sauce, worcestershire, salt, pepper. Mix well and try not to over handle the meat. Divide into six equal portions. Brush the grill rack with oil. Place patties on the rack and cover. Grill for about 4 or 5 minutes. Turn patties and cook for about 5 minutes longer or done to preference. Brush rolls with butter and grill just before the burgers are ready to come off. To assemble burgers, spread the mango sauce on both sides of the rolls. On bottom of roll place 1/4 cup of slaw mix, a meat patty. Add the roll top and serve.
