kentucky bourbon burger

this is a homage to my kentucky roots.

1 1/2lbs ground chuck
1 1/2lbs ground sirlion
1cup kentucky bourbon
1cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cilantro fresh and chopped
1/4 cup lemon juice fresh
2tbs worcestershire sauce
2tsp fresh thyme
1cup shredded green cabbage
1cup shredded red cabbage
2cups mayo
1/4cup dijon mustard
1 1/2 cups crumbled blue cheese
pinch salt and pepper
6 kaiser buns
oil for grill

to make patties: combine chuck, sirlion, bourbon, brown sugar, cilantro, lemon juice, worcestershire sauce and thyme.handle the meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it as you mix it. divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form patties to fit the buns. to make bluecheese slaw: mix green cabbage, red cabbage, mayo, mustard, blue cheese and salt and pepper. prepare a medium-hot fire on charcoalgrill with cover or preheat a gas grill to medium high. when grill is ready brush the grill rack with oil. place burgers on the rack cover and cook turn only once after about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium. meanwhile butter and toast the buns. assemble the bourbon burgers: place cooked burgers on toasted hot buns spoon blue cheese slaw mixture on top of burger put top of bun on.
