My wife calls these my 'grilled meatballs' because I took the recipe as a variation on her meatball recipe. These burgers come out juicy enough to even be reheated the next day. We typically serve them with a salad of buffalo mozzerella, tomatoes, basil and balsamic vinegar.
1Lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup italian seasoned breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated locatelli romano cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
4-6 fresh basil leaves torn and chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 cloves garlic chopped
1/2 small onion diced
Grilled slices of italian bread for a serving (as an alternative to a roll)
Add all ingreedients in a large mixing bowl. stir with hands to combine. divide into 4 mounds. roll with hands and flatten to form burgers. Grill for approximately 6-8 minutes per side to desired temperature.
We love this version of hamburger. The egg and breadcrumbs keep the burger soft enough to reheat even the next day for lunch. The italian seasonings go nicely on the grill!
