Instructions

Directions Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. To make the patties, beat egg and set aside. Combine ground chuck, onion, 1/3-cup ketchup, merlot, mustard, and horseradish. Slowly mix in oatmeal and egg, mix just until combined, and do not over mix. Separate into 4 patties and shape in an oblong form to fit the rolls. Brush the hot grill rack with the olive oil. Place the patties on the center of the rack, and grill 6-7 minutes per side. During the last few minutes of cooking put the rolls on the outer edges of the rack to toast very lightly. Before taking the burgers off of the grill, brush the remain 1/3 cup of ketchup on either side of the patty. To assemble the burgers, brush a generous amount of mayo on both sides of the bun. On each roll bottom place lettuce and tomato and top with the patty. Add the top of the roll and serve. Makes 4 burgers.
