White Merlot

Imagine sipping a lighter Merlot. This fresh, pale-pink wine is a nice change from traditional red or white wines.

Ingredients

1/2 cup chopped red onion
40 pretzel sticks, crushed
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck meat
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1 Tbsp. steak sauce
1/2 cup roasted raspberry chipotle sauce
1/2 cup Sutter Home Wine/White Merlot
4 oz. Monterey Jack brick cheese cut into small cubes
Oil for grill rack
6 large sesame seeded buns split and lightly toasted
6 red leaf lettuce leaves
18 red onion rings
12 California avocado slices

Instructions

Pre-heat gas grill to medium-high heat. To make the patties: Combine the chopped red onion and the crushed pretzel sticks with the ground chuck. Add the seasoned salt, salt, black pepper, and ground allspice. Mix lightly. Add the A-1 sauce, the chipotle sauce and the wine. Mix well. Toss in cheese cubes and combine. Divide the meat into 6 patties. Form patties with your hands, pushing the cheese cubes inside the meat as much as possible. Brush oil on grill. Set patties on the grill and grill, covered, about 4 1/2 minutes. Turn patties only once and grill about 4 1/2 minutes more. Lightly toast buns about 1 minute before assembling burgers. To assemble burgers: On each bun bottom add 1 patty, 1 piece of red leaf lettuce, 3 rings of red onion and top off with 2 slices of avocado. Add the bun tops and serve!!
