Heaven In A Bun

This burger is unique but all American because it contains lose hamburger simmered in a beef broth, saute'd mushrooms, and provolone cheese on a grilled burger with bacon slices. Yummee


1 lb of hamburger
one 1 1/2 thick hamburger pattie
4 beef boullion cubes
2 1/2 cups of water
mushrooms, cut in half
Paula Deans house seasoning: garlic powder, salt and pepper mix
1/4 cup of red wine
peppered bacon slices
tomato slices
onion slices
velveta cheese slices
2 TBS of butter
toasted hamburger bun


1. cut mushrooms and place in a skillet with 1 TBS of butter, sprinkle Paula Dean's house seasoning on them and cook on med high heat for 5 minutes until soft, add 1 1/2 cups of water to the skillet, then put in 2 beef boullion cubes and the 1/4 cup of red wine, simmer on med-low for 10-15 minutes
2. brown 1 lb of hamburger sprinkled with Paula Dean's house seasoning, drain and then put back into skillet with 1 cup of water and 2 beef boullion cubes, simmer on med-low heat for 10 minutes
3. cook peppered bacon slices in the microwave, approximately 1 minute per slice, drain on a paper towel
4. pat out a hamburger pattie 1 1/2" thick, cook in a skillet or broil until med well done, season with salt & pepper.
5. place pattie on a toasted bun, top the hamburger pattie with the lose hamburger mixture making sure to get some beef juice from the skillet, then place a slice of melted velveta cheese on the lose meat, top with saute'd mushrooms, onion slices, peppered bacon slices and tomato slices -enjoy


What makes this burger good is the texture from two different types of beef mixtures and the mushroom flavor mixed with warm cheese and a toasted bun. And the peppered bacon adds a surprise of flavor but not too much. It is simple but unique and not ordinary.
