Grilled Hawaiian Pizza Burger

The South is all about comfort food. Comfort food can range from mac and cheese, to anything on the grill, or just pizza while the family is snuggled up watching a movie together. One favorite pizza at our house is the Hawaiian style pizza with canadian bacon, pineapple, and jalapenos. YUM! When the weather is nice, we love to grill out with the entire family. Of course we all love a good burger. So I decided to combine the two one night, and my family couldn

Ingredients

1 14.5 oz can petite diced tomatoes, drained
4 slices of canned pineapple, diced petite
5 pickled jalapeno slices, dices fine or to taste
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon hickory smoked sea salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
1/8 cup petite diced fresh mozzarella cheese
7 leaves fresh basil, sliced in thin strips
2lbs ground beef, 85/15
1/2 teaspoon hickory smoked sea salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 cup petite diced fresh mozzarella cheese
6 larges slices Canadian Bacon
6 Hawaiian Bread Rolls

Instructions

Mix together the Sauce-ah ingredients, petite tomatoes through basil, set aside.

Mix ingredients from ground beef through mozzarella cheese. Do not over mix. Form 6 patties shaped like the Hawaiian bread rolls.

Grill Patties at 350* 3-5 minutes on each side until preferred done-ness. After turning over patty, put Canadian bacon slices, and bread on grill. Toast bread on both sides, put on plate.

Top bottom of bread with meat patty, top with Canadian bacon slice and then sauce-ah. Top with bread lid.

Comments

The salsa can be served at room temp. It can be made a day ahead of time, it only gets better when it sits. The spicy sweet of the sauce-ah and the heat in the patty go real well with the sweetness of the bread. Each bite is different.
