Grandpa’s Burgers

Pairs well with:

Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

Ingredients

2 lbs. Ground Beef
1 egg
1/2 cup crumbled pretzels
1 large chopped onion
1 tsp mustard
1/4 cup of red wine
2 avocados
1 large chopped tomato
4 cloves of chopped garlic
1/2 lemon
2 tbs oil with garlic
8 hamburger buns
8 slices pepper jack cheese
Salt and pepper

Instructions

In a large bowl combine beef, egg, pretzels, 3/4 of chopped onion, mustard, and wine. Mix throughly and form into 8 patties, stacking them with a piece of waxed paper between each patty. Set aside. Remove skin and seed of avacados and place in a strong bowl. With a fork break avocado into pieces. Add rest of onion, chopped tomato, and 3 cloves of garlic.(Save one clove of garlic to mix with oil.) Continue to blend ingredients together until somewhat smooth in texture. Squeeze lemon juice on mixture, cover and place aside. Cook beef patties on a grill. ( approx. 5 min. per side.) I find the patties do not stick to the grill if you rub a little oil on the grates before placing the patties on them. Season to taste. As the patties are cooking, combine the oil and garlic and rub it on the inside of the buns. Place the buns on the grill, oil/garlic side down, just long enough to lightly toast the buns. Just before the patties are done, place a piece of cheese on each patty. Remove patties and place on the bun. Add a spoon of the avocado mixture to each patty, cover with the remaining half of bun and Grandpa's Burgers are ready for all to enjoy.
