This burger is a spin off from my favorite appetizer, Gorgonzola and sun dried tomato crostini.
2 pounds ground chuck 80%
1 envelope of Lipton onion soup mix
1/2 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
1/2 cup chopped sun dried tomatoes drained (packed in oil)
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup whipped cream cheese
6 ciabatta rolls
Heat gas grill to medium.
Make patties: Combine the chuck and onion soup mix. Shape into 6 patties to fit the bun size. Cover and set aside.
Combine the Gorgonzola, sun dried tomatoes, Parmesan cheese and cream cheese.
When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with oil. Put cut buns on top rack, cut side down. If you do not have a top rack, put buns in tinfoil and place on the grill. Watch closely until toasted. Place patties on grill, cover and cook. Turning once until done to preference, 5-7 minutes on each side for medium. Place the Gorgonzola mixture on top of each patty for the last 3 minutes of grilling. Place patties in toasted buns. Serves 6.
This is a very easy burger with a very impressive flavor.
