Georgia Peach Burger

Introduction: One thing that I found while living in Georgia a few years back is that Peaches, onions and Coca Cola have an impact on most everyone. This burger is a result of some of that influence incorporating the flavor of peaches, onions and injecting a slight caramel flavor to the BB-Q sauce through using Coca-Cola, all from Georgia.

Ingredients

1 Jar Barbecue Sauce (15.5 oz)
10 oz Coca Cola
1 Vidalia Onion
4 TBS Colavita EVOO
3 Ripe Georgia Peaches
1/3 tsp Fresh Ground Nutmeg
1 TBS Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Sutter Home White Zinfandel
1 Beaten Egg
1 TBS Salt
3 lb Fresh Ground Chuck
Oil for Grill Grate
6 Kaiser Rolls
6 slices Herb Brie (approx 5 oz)
6 Crisp Leafs Iceburg Lettace

Instructions

General: Preheat the grill to medium high Topping Sauce: Mix the barbecue sauce and Coca Cola together in a medium pan on the grill and simmer/reduce for approximately 30 minutes and set aside. Topping: 1 Cut the onion in half and slice and place in a pan on the grill to caramelize. Caramelize with 1 TBS EVOO. 2 Clean and course chop the peaches and place in with the onions, add nutmeg, sugar and ¼ cup of wine. Simmer until peaches are soft and wine is cooked down. Burger: 1 Beat the egg in a large bowl then mix in the remaining 1/4 cup wine as well as salt. 2 Next, thoroughly mix the ground beef with the egg, wine and salt. . 3 Separate the meat mixture into 6 equal lightly formed balls and form to a size that is approximately the same or slightly larger than the rolls. Grilling: 1 Apply oil to the grill grate 2 Cut Kiser rolls in half ready for toasting on the grill. 3 Place meat patties on the grill over medium high heat and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes. Carefully turn and cook the second side for about another 5 to 6 minutes. Note that cooking time may vary depending on grill temperatures and “hot spots” of each grill. 4 A couple of minutes prior to removing the burgers from the grill, generously coat one side of the burger with the sauce as a glaze. 5 Place the Kiser rolls, cut side down, on the grill, lightly toast and remove from the grill. 6 Prior to removing the burger from the grill, top each burger with a slice of brie cheese. 5 Place two pieces of crisp lettuce on the bottom ½ of the toasted Kiser roll. 6 Place the burger directly on the lettuce. 7 Generously apply Georgia Peach topping to the burger and top with the toasted Kiser roll. 8 Slice as desired and serve immediately. Enjoy.

Comments

Comments: Truly a great burger. If you can not find Georgia peaches, substitute the best ripe full flavored peaches you can find and you substitute a good sweet onion for the Vidalia onion. It is however hard to beat the taste of the Real Thing.
