Duchess Royal Juicy Burgers

My name is Barb. My friends know me as Duchess, so i decided to take a recipe fit for a king and give it the royal name. I am married to the same wonderful man, my prince charming, for 44 yrs. We have 5 children who i always called our angels - they are grown, married and have their own families now, giving us 4 grands to enjoy. We do many cookouts on the grill when they're around and it's usually burgers that we get the most requests for. I am inspired by the recipe contest for the build a better burger and put some of their favorites together to make one juicey royal burger.

1/3 c sutter home merlot wine
1/4 cup of dried chopped onions
2 lbs ground round beef
1/2 c crumbs from crushed Kettle buffalo bleu potato chips
2/3 C feta cheese crumbled type divide in half
1/2 t powdered ginger
1/4 c any dry powdered rub
3 cups sliced mushrooms
1 large onion sliced thin
1/4 c sutter home chardonnay wine
3 T Colavita extra virgin olive oil
1 T soy sauce
6 onion rolls
3 avocadoes sliced
romaine lettuce g
rey poupon mustard

In a mixing bowl add the wine to the dried onions to reconstitue them let sit for a couple of minutes then add the ground round and start mixing by hand adding as you go, half of the crumbled feta cheese setting aside the other half, the powdered ginger. add the blue cheese crumbled potato chips mixing well. divide evenly into 6 portions making the burger pattys on a sheet of wax paper. Place them on a tray covered with wax paper and coat them lightly on both sides with the grub rub. Chill the patties in the frig covered with more wax paper for about 15 minutes so they don't come apart when you flip em on the grill. in the mean time: heat the olive oil on med high, add the sliced onions and mushrooms sauteeing while adding the soy sauce and wine. cook until onions and mushrooms are tender. set aside and keep warm. slice the avocadoes. rinse off the romaine lettuce leaves and let drain, slice one large fresh tomato. grill the burgers 5 min on each side for medium well or till done to everyones satisfaction. spread the grey poupon on the onion add that the hot grilled burger patty..then load em with the mixture of grilled onions and mushrooms..throw on a romaine leaf, a slice of tomato and avocado slices and enjoy a burger made for a king and his castle.

If you like your burgers thicker use 1/2 lb more ground round beef to make the recipe for 6 burgers. when your making the patties push the crumbled fetta cheese back into the meat if its on the outside. keeps it from burning and gives the burger a great flavor if its cooked on the inside. keep the onion mushroom mixture warm and the avocados and romaine lettuce chilled. I put the burger patties on the buns as they are ready and put them back into the plastic bag the buns came in- let them steam just a couple of heating the buns and giving them added flavour. Dont oversteam or the buns will get soggy. serve them right from the bun bag and let everyone add their own toppings at the table along with the rest of the potato chips and a refresing drink of choice- Any burgers leftover will keep nicely back in the bun bag and put into the frig.
