Chili Lime Cheese Burgers

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

Ingredients

2 pounds ground chuck
2 teaspoons hot chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons salt free steak seasoning such
Dash of ground cayenne pepper
2 limes, ready to juice
Vegetable oil
6 Kaiser rolls, split
6 slices colby jack cheese
Honey for drizzling on buns
6 thick tomato slices
6 thin onion ring slices

 

Instructions

Preheat grill to medium high heat. For patties, place ground chuck in a large bowl. Sprinkle in chili powder, salt, cumin and steak seasoning. Add a dash of cayenne pepper. Juice 2 limes into bowl. Combine mixture gently but well. Separate into 6 equal portions. Form portions into patties. Oil grill grate with vegetable oil. Place patties on grill over direct heat. Close lid. Grill for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium burgers. Place buns on upper rack during last four minutes of cooking to toast. Also, place cheese slices on top of burgers during the last two minutes of cooking to melt. Drizzle honey on cut side of top and bottom buns. Place burgers on bottom bun. Add slice of tomato and onion ring on top of burger. Place top buns and enjoy immediately.
