Chick Burger

This is a great meat alternative with a Greek flare. It is sure to please the fussiest eaters.

Ingredients 

Dressing-
1 lg. cucumber- seeded & diced
8 oz. cream cheese
1T. dill weed
1/2t. White pepper
Burgers-
1-(14.5oz) garbanzo beans (chick peas)
2 t. onion powder
1 t. coriander
2 t. cumin
1 t. lemon pepper
1T. minced garlic
1 beaten egg
1c. wheat germ
Canola oil for cooking
Garnish- Shredded lettuce
Diced onion
Diced tomato
6 Pita bread

Instructions 

Dressing- Mix all 4 ingredients and refrigerate. Burgers- Drain, rinse, and mash the beans with a fork until all the beans are coarsely mashed. Add the next 6 ingredients and mix well. Form into 6 oblong patties. Place wheat germ on a plate and press patties into the wheat germ to coat well on both sides. Refrigerate for 1 hr to firm up. Place a foil tray on the grill and heat on high. Add a generous amount of canola oil and fry the patties on the foil for 10 - 15 minutes turning half way through. Patties should be browned. Add more oil if it becomes too dry. Bread- Slice the pitas in half and lightly grill to warm. Build the burgers in the following order- ½ pita Chick burger 2 generous T. dressing Generous portion of garnish- lettuce, onion, tomato ½ pita
