A surprisingly tasty combination of plantains and a sweet, soft cheese together in an empanada inspired this recipe.
3 lbs. of 85% lean ground chuck
5 tbsp. jerk seasoning
6 tsp. salt
2 cups of canned black beans
3 large plantains
2 tsp. black pepper
6 thick slices of Fontina cheese
3 tbsp. butter
6 white buns
6 tbsp. mayo
1.) Combine beef, jerk seasoning, salt, and black beans. Form into 1/2 lb. patties.
2.) Peel and slice plantains. Season with salt and pepper.
3.) Spread butter onto bread.
4.) Grill burgers to desired doneness. Remove from grill, and place cheese slice on top.
5.) Slightly char plantains on both sides (about 2 min. per side)
6.) Brown buns on grill.
7.) Assemble burger by first placing mayo on the bottom bun. Then place the burger with the cheese on the bun. Lastly, place the plantains on top of the burger. Put on top bun.
