I made up this Burger after we moved to Arizona from Connecticut. When ever we have a cook out, either at our house or someone else's it is always a big hit. I serve it with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickled jalapeÃ±os.
1 81/4 oz.can refried beans
1 4 oz.can green chili pepper.
1/4 cup chopped onion
11/2 lbs ground beef (90/93% fat free)
4 slices Monterey jack cheese broken up
6 8" tortillas
1/4 cup olive oil
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 med. tomato, chopped
In bowl combine beans, 2 tablespoons chilly peppers, onion, and 3/4 tsp salt. Add ground beef; mix well. shape into 6 1/2 in. thick patties. Place some cheese atop each patty. Fold patty in half; seal edges. Grill over gas grill or Med. coals till desired doneness, turning once( allow 12 to 15 Minutes total time for Medium). Or place patties on rack of unheated broiler pan. Broil 3" inches from heat till desired doneness, turning once ( allow 10 Min. total time for Medium). Rub Tortillas on both sides with olive oil and Heat tortillas on grill or in broiler (careful not to burn). Serve burgers in hot tortillas with lettuce, tomato, and remaining chilly peppers. Makes 6 servings
I would suggest serving Ketchup, mustard, Hot sauce,
Potato chips and or Potato salad. A three bean salad also goes very well with the burgers.
