Buffalo Wing Night Burger
My idea for this burger came from our enjoyment of going out for buffalo wings when we were newly married. My husband and I and another couple would have so much fun eating wings, and playing trivia each tuesday night. Now that we all have kids and don't frequent smokey bars anymore I've tried to come up with a flavorful healthy alternative to enjoy in our own backyard.
1.8 lbs of ground chicken
3/4 cup italian seasoned bread crumbs
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 cup favorite buffalo wing sauce
2 oz crumbled blue cheese
oil for grill
6 whole wheat buns
6 T of favorite chunky blue cheese dressing
6 thick slices beefsteak tomatoes
6 pieces of crispy iceberg lettuce
6 4'in celery heart leaves
Method: First. Whisk egg in large bowl, add ground chicken, bread crumbs, garlic powder, black pepper and salt. Stir until well combined. Then fold in wing sauce and blue cheese crumbles. Form into 6 ~6oz patties. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes. Heat grill to medium - high heat. Oil grill grates well. Then place patties on grill and cook for @ 10 minutes on each side or until internal temperature of patties reaches 160 degrees. To assemble:(one portion) First,toast hamberger bun. Place alternative pattie on bottom bun. Then top with one tomato slice, one ice berg leaf and one celery heart leaf. Finish burger with 1 T of your favorite blue cheese dressing.
Even my 2 year old gobbles this burger down-a sure sign of success.
