Brown Sugar and Oats Beef burger

This is an old family recipe handed down from 2 generations. I created my own touch by adding a few ingredients that my grandfather would approve of.

2lbs 90% Ground beef
2 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg, beaten well
1/4 cup Sutter Home Gewurztraminer
2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil to brush the grill
Spray bottle filled with Sutter Home Gewurztraminer
6 Sesame Seed Topped Hamburger Buns
Sweet Pickle Relish
Grey Poupon Dijan Mustard
1 Beefsteak Tomato, thinly sliced
Red Leaf Lettuce

FOR BURGER PATTIES: In a meduim sized bowl, place ground beef in a break up loosely with a fork. Add rolled oats, brown sugar, egg, Sutter Home Gewurztraminer, dry mustard, and salt. Mix until well blended and form into 6 patties. Brush grill rack with EVOO and cook patties over medium hot coals until cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side. Flip only once and spray edge of coals with Gewurztraminer during the last few minutes of cooking time. FOR BUNS: During the last 2 minutes of grilling the patties, place buns over heat until lightly browned. Remove buns to top rack to keep warm. TO ASSEMBLE BURGERS: Spread bottom of the bun with Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard and sweet pickle relish. Add Patty, tomato and lettuce. Lightly spread top of bun with Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard and serve.

This burger is best served with a Gewurztraminer, becasue of the sweet flavor brought out by the brown sugar.
