Like Beethoven's music, this burger is powerful and fulfilling. The ingredients are like the right notes at the right time. I am a singer/musician/songwriter and have been doing this for over fifty years, professionally. When I needed energy, good protein and a satisfied tummy before working, I made one of these burgers. I taught my sons to make them and my grand daughter too.
one pound of ground beef (sirloin)
tablespoon of worcestershire sauce
teaspoon of dijon mustard
1 egg 6 almonds, crushed to powder
one onion, minced fine
two cloves of garlic, minced fine
salt and pepper to taste
teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil
catsup or mustard
Have a large bowl ready
In a grinder or chopper pulverize the almonds and place in bowl
Mince your onions and garlic and place
Add mustard and worcestershire sauce. Mix and set aside.
In another bowl, place one pound of ground sirloin. Add an egg...add the oilve oil and mix
Pour the ingredients from the first bowl into the meat mixture and mix thoroughly. I use my hands. Make three burgers, not too flat. Grill or pan saute...2 minutes on each side, for rare burgers. Place on buns! Garnish with tomatoes, mushrooms catsup or mustard on top. Enjoy!
This is not meant for neatniks. The burger should be running with juices and finger licking is allowed. Of course, a glass of Sutter Cabernet would be a perfect accompaniment. Laura
