Beef Citrus Burger

Pairs well with:

White Merlot

Imagine sipping a lighter Merlot. This fresh, pale-pink wine is a nice change from traditional red or white wines.

Ingredients

Citrus Spread
2 oz orange marmalade
4 oz mustard
Patties
6 lb Ground Chuck (20% Fat)
6 tsp salt
6 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp black pepper
6 tsp onion powder
6 oz blue cheese crumbles
6 jalapenos, diced
Vegetable oil to brush the grill rack
6 onion rolls (split)
1 lb spring green salad

 

Instructions

Preheat a gas grill to a medium high temperature. In a bowl, mix 2 oz orange marmalade and 4 oz mustard until well incorporated. Chill until ready to serve burgers. In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, salt, garlic powder, black pepper and onion powder. Mix until seasonings are incorporated. Divide ground chuck into 6 equal portions. Divide the equal portions into 2 equal size patties. Place 1/2 oz of blue cheese and 1/2 jalapeno into center of 1 hamburger patty. Place second patty on top of first patty and seal edges to form a complete hamburger patty. Brush the grill rack with vegetable oil. Place the patties on the rack and cover. Cook all burgers on grill until burgers reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees. Flip only once 8 minutes into cooking. After burgers have completed cooking. Heat 6 onion rolls for 2 minutes on the grill flat side down. To assemble burgers, spread each side of the roll with a generous amount of orange marmalade-mustard spread. Add spring green salad to bottom roll half. Place hamburger patty on top of the salad greens. Place top half of roll on burger patty. Serve. Makes 6 burgers.
