BBIT (Best Burgers In Town)
BBIT (Best Burgers In Town) The first time I made this, it was just on a whim. We were hungry for a good burger but nothing the restaurants or fast food place in our small town appealed to us. So, I just tried something different.
1 lb. ground chuck (80/20)
1/2 lb. lean ground beef (92/8 or leaner if you can find it)
1 pkg. Onion Soup mix
1 Tbs. worchestershire sauce
2 Tbs. Steak Sauce
1 egg, beaten
Combine ground chuck and ground beef Crunch up soup mix (easiest while it is still in the package) to make sure there are no large onion pieces and pour over meat; lightly mix in to avoid overworking the meat. Add worcestershire sauce and sauce to the meat and work in, again trying not to overwork the meat. Thoroughly beat egg and add to mixture, again working in but not overworking meat. Divide mixture into 4 equal parts and press into patties. Grill for 5 minutes on one side and 4 minutes on the other (depending on your desired doneness but to be sure meat reaches proper temperature).
If you like cheese, add cheese as soon as you take off the grill. Be sure to let the meat sit for about 3-to-5 minutes just to make sure all juices re-distribute. If you like jalapenos, add about 2 tablespoons of finely chopped jalapenos to the mixture after adding the soup mix. (Fresh jalapenos are best, but jarred or canned are good, too. When using fresh, be sure to remove seeds and ribs to get the best flavor - otherwise the burger may be too spicy-hot.) Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!
