BAYOU BURGERS

Ingredients

Patty ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80-86% lean)
1/2 lb ground andouille sausage
2 cloves chopped garlic
1/2 cup finely chopped yellow pepper
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
2 medium tomatoes, peeled, seeded and
finely chopped
4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 Tbsp Emeril’s Bayou Blast seasoning
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup cooked rice
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Vegetable oil for grilling
6 kaiser rolls, split
1 stick butter, melted

Remoulade Sauce ingredients:

1 jar Zatarain’s remoulade Sauce
3/4 lb small shrimp, peeled, deveined and
cooked
1 clove chopped garlic

 

Instructions

Preheat gas grill to medium high

Prepare Patties:

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground andouille sausage, garlic, peppers, onions, tomatoes, bacon, Bayou Blast seasoning, worcestershire sauce, egg, rice, and breadcrumbs. Mix together.

Take 1 cup of meat mixture and form into a patty , measuring approximately 5 inches in diameter.

Prepare Remoulade Sauce:

In medium mixing bowl, mix Zatarain’s sauce, shrimp and garlic. refrigerate until burgers are done.

Cooking burgers:

Brush grill racks with oil. Place patties on grill rack and cover. Grill approximately 4 mins and then turn and continue grilling for additional 5 mins for medium cooked burgers (cook 7 mins for medium well). While waiting for burgers to finish cooking, take Kaiser roll halves and brush with melted butter. Place rolls cut side down on top grill rack (or on the perimeter of grill, away from direct heat, if you don’t have a top rack. Grill rolls until lightly toasted and remove.

Assembling Burgers:

When burgers are done, place burger atop a half of roll. Top burger with 1/8 cup remoulade sauce and then add another bun half. ENJOY!! (makes 6 burgers)
